Combined Charities was founded as a Co-operative in early 1976, through the initiative of purchasing representatives of various Church Agencies. Since then, the organisation has become incorporated, adopted CCI Group Purchasing as its trading name and now services a broad spectrum of organisation's in the not-for-profit sector. While Aged Care and Child Care are the two traditional member groups, membership is also open to other not-for-profit sectors such as Schools, Hospitals, Disability and Community based organisation's, in fact membership is available to any corporate body whose objectives are charitable, philanthropic, educational or religious, or directed towards the care of the sick, aged or incapacitated, or towards the general welfare and well being of the community or any section of the community. The principal objective of CCI Group Purchasing is to employ the combined membership's buying power to broker efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services and to grant preferred supplier status upon successful tenders for a specific term. Regular monitoring of a preferred supplier's performance and their adherence to terms and conditions of supply is also an important function of the Association. CCI Group Purchasing call for competitive tenders in over 20 product and service groups including: dairy, fresh meat and poultry, medical supplies, fruit and vegetables, cleaning chemicals, washroom products, nutrition, groceries, waste management, bread, disposable plastics, office supplies, fruit juice, maintenance, lighting and Energy auditing. With the list being continually reviewed to meet members' procurement needs. Research and pricing of capital acquisitions as well as product trial and evaluation can also be arranged.
